Job summary

SOCOTEC Life Safety (SLS) seeks a seasoned leader to launch and grow the fire protection engineering division in the Mid-Atlantic, ideally in the Washington DC metro area. You will blend technical fire protection expertise with business acumen to build a team, establish operational processes, and drive client acquisition.

The role requires proven startup leadership, strong client development skills, and a track record of delivering high-quality fire protection solutions across industries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering (related field).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection or eligible to obtain.
• 7–10 years in fire protection engineering with leadership/management.
• Experience starting up/leading a business unit.
• Proven ability in business development and client relationships.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Strategic thinking and entrepreneurial mindset in fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Define Mid-Atlantic market entry and growth strategy for SLS.
• Drive market penetration and revenue growth for the Service Line.
• Build and sustain senior client relationships with owners, developers, contractors.
• Oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring budgets and quality.
• Implement KPIs and safety/compliance standards.
• Recruit, develop, mentor a high-performing team.
• Establish scalable operating processes and financial discipline.
