Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Regional Environmental Engineer to lead multi-state environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for data center siting and development in the Virginia region. The role partners with Real Estate, Legal, Risk, and Design teams to ensure timely, compliant project delivery.

The successful candidate will oversee Phase I/II ESAs, regulatory evaluations, and resource assessments, while coordinating with regulators, consultants, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering multi-media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related discipline.
• 7+ years delivering environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance, with at least 3 years of PM experience.
• Experience with Phase I and Phase II ESAs and support for investigative/remedial activities.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Assess environmental risks and develop mitigations to support data center siting and development.
• Lead environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs, regulatory/permitting evaluations, and resource assessments.
• Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans for new data center locations and expansions.
• Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external partners.
• Coordinate with Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, and others to optimize site designs.
• Develop site development and permitting strategies that are sustainable and timely.
• Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations to support permit acquisition.
• Develop detailed compliance plans for environmental permits.
• Develop and track metrics to evaluate project success and compliance.
