Job summary

CDM Smith seeks an experienced Estimator to lead regional estimating functions, manage budgets, staffing, and procurement activities. You will support project managers in negotiations, maintain cost databases, and ensure standardized estimating practices across projects.

The role requires deep knowledge of estimating techniques, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with design teams to optimize constructability and cost. Travel up to 40% is expected.

Qualifications

• 10 years of related experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; up to 40% travel.
• High School diploma or equivalent; degree often considered with related experience.
• Strong knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control, and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers estimating functions in the assigned region to include budgets and staffing.
• Implements estimating policies to meet corporate objectives.
• Supports project managers in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders.
• Supervises preparation of market cost studies and materials/methods data.
• Reviews project details with leadership and recommends strategies and resources.
• Coordinates with design leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Maintains standardized use of estimating systems and cost databases.
• Maintains historical data for estimating man-hours and bid results by project.
• Reviews final estimates and proposals for accuracy and completeness.
