Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Estimator/Cost Control Leader to manage estimating for a defined region, oversee budgets, staff, and work assignments, and ensure accurate proposals. You will collaborate with project managers, design leads, and procurement teams to deliver cost-effective, constructible estimates and maintain a robust cost database across multiple trades.

Travel up to 40% may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required with 10 years related experience.
• Minimum 3 years in supervisory/management capacity.
• Ability to travel 20-40% as required.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers the estimating functions in assigned region, area or group to include operating budgets, staffing assignments, and work assignments.
• Implements established estimating policies in in assigned region, area or group to meet overall corporate objectives.
• Works with project managers to provide administrative and technical assistance in negotiating purchase orders, subcontracts, and change orders during procurement.
• Supervises the preparation of market cost studies, materials and methods, and recommends appropriate changes to database.
• Assists region leadership by reviewing project details and provides recommendations, and collaboratively determines strategies, techniques, and resources needed.
• Provides close coordination and oversight with design discipline leads for cost effectiveness and constructability for proposals.
• Ensures standardized use of approved estimating systems, maintenance and enhances of the cost database estimating system.
• Maintains all historical data for estimating man‑hours for various types of estimates (i.e. hard bid, design/build, construction management at risk, opinions of probable construction cost, etc.) and bid results by project.
• Reviews all final estimate and proposal packages to ensure accuracy and completeness for formal quotation and presentation.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
• Performs additional duties as required.
