Job summary

Indiana State Police seeks qualified applicants for a Regional Dispatch Center role. Primary duties include receiving, collating, recording, and dispatching information to police personnel and partner agencies using CAD, RMS, AVL, GIS, and related resources.

The position requires high school diploma or GED; typing and dispatch simulation tests; EMT preferred; and CPR/EMD certifications. Training starts in Bloomington, with eventual work in Evansville after the facility opens.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass department typing test.
• Must pass dispatch simulation test.
• EMT certification preferred.
• Must become certified as a TDD/TTY operator.
• Must have CPR and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification.
• Must maintain confidentiality.
• Must communicate effectively in writing and speech.
• Must pass a background investigation.
• Submit high school transcripts or GED and any college transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Provide dispatch support statewide as needed for emergencies and operational needs.
• Coordinate emergency and non-emergency traffic with police and public safety partners.
• Process and dispatch IDACS, NLETS, and NCIC information per guidelines.
• Assist citizens with EMS information while units are en route.
• Work under a 24/7 shift schedule; training will occur in Bloomington until Evansville opens.
