Job summary

Indiana State Police is seeking a professional staff member to receive, collate, record, and accurately dispatch information to police personnel and partner agencies using CAD, RMS, AVL, GIS, and related resources. Training will occur in Bloomington before transitioning to Evansville.

The role requires successful completion of a typing test and dispatch simulations, with EMT and CPR/EMD certifications preferred. A background check and documentation submission are mandatory for applicants.

Qualifications

• Must be a high school graduate or possess the equivalent GED.
• Must successfully complete Department typing test.
• Must take a Department approved Dispatch Simulation test.
• On the job training provided for qualified and energetic individuals.
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification preferred.
• Must become certified, and maintain certification, as a TDD/TTY operator.
• Must become certified, or provide proof of certification, in CPR and Emergency Medical Dispatch.
• Must have ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must have ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Receive, collate, record, disseminate, and accurately dispatch information to Department personnel and partner agencies.
• Provide dispatch support statewide as needed and coordinate emergency and non-emergency traffic.
