Job summary

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Wichita is seeking a part-time Refugee Health Promotion Assistant to support health literacy, access to care, and overall well-being for refugees and ORR-eligible populations. This role provides culturally and linguistically appropriate education, outreach, and administrative support to help clients navigate the U.S.

healthcare system. Responsibilities include enrollment assistance, appointment scheduling, interpretation coordination, and coordination

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Public Health, Social Work, Health Education, Community Health, or related field preferred.
• At least one year of experience providing social services or health programming for vulnerable populations.
• Experience working with refugees and immigrants to navigate American social/human service systems preferred.
• Ability to handle complex and sensitive cases and to work with clients with various psychosocial, protection, health, immigration, and criminal justice issues.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-culturally.

Responsibilities

• Work with program teams to determine health care needs and gaps in services for community members.
• Assist with enrollment, eligibility verification, and program orientation activities.
• Help clients access primary care, specialty care, behavioral health, dental, vision, and preventive services.
• Support scheduling of medical appointments and follow-up care.
• Provide interpretation coordination and language access support as needed.
• Help clients understand medical instructions, insurance coverage, and healthcare resources.
• Coordinate transportation resources for health-related appointments when appropriate.
• Assist with referrals and follow-up with partner organizations.
• Support Health and Wellness coordinator with outreach events and workshops.
• Maintain accurate and timely client records and uphold confidentiality.
