FMC Ice Sports, established in 1992, manages high-quality ice sport facilities and programs that benefit our communities and promote hockey and skating. We operate 25 public ice skating arenas across Massachusetts, partnering with the state, municipalities, and educational institutions.

Position: Refrigeration Technician

Reporting to the VP of Maintenance and Operations, the Refrigeration Technician maintains arena refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves. Responsibilities include routine preventative maintenance to ensure efficient operation and prevent deterioration of building systems. The role requires working independently and with others, with work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in industrial, residential, or food service equipment or completion of refrigeration/HVAC trade school.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration equipment.
• Self-motivated with the ability to handle various projects/tasks.
• Relevant licenses/certifications (hoisting, OSHA 10-hour, etc.) or ability to obtain them.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Consent to background checks, including CORI/SORI and Motor Vehicle Check.

Responsibilities:

• Service arena refrigeration systems, including installation, maintenance, repairs, and part replacements.
• Conduct system checks, troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.
• Perform electrical and refrigerant system troubleshooting.
• Maintain service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and other documentation.
• Research and resolve complex system issues.
• Complete necessary paperwork and maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
