Facility Management Corporation, known as “FMC Ice Sports,” was formed in 1992 to deliver high-quality ice sport facility management and operations, as well as ice-based programs that benefit our communities and promote interest in hockey and skating. We have established a record of quality operations and have grown to be the largest operator of public arenas in the United States. FMC operates 25 public ice skating arenas across Massachusetts, in partnership with the Commonwealth, municipalities, and educational institutions.

Under the direction of the VP of Maintenance and Operations, the Refrigeration Technician is responsible for maintaining arena refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves. Responsibilities also include routine preventative maintenance to ensure efficient operation and prevent deterioration of the physical condition of the buildings. This position may work alone or with others, depending on project needs. Work hours include nights, weekends, and some holidays as required to meet facility and patron needs.

Part-time or full-time hours available. Company vehicle provided.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in industrial, residential, or food service equipment, or completion of refrigeration/HVAC trade school.
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing refrigeration equipment.
• Self-starter with the ability and willingness to work on various projects/tasks.
• Current licenses/certifications (hoisting, OSHA 10-hour, etc.) or ability to obtain them.
• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
• Consent to a background check, including CORI/SORI and motor vehicle check, as use of a company vehicle is involved.

Responsibilities include:

• Servicing arena refrigeration systems, including installation, repair, replacement, preventative maintenance, and minor calibrations.
• System checks, troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.
• Electrical and refrigerant system troubleshooting.
• Maintaining records such as service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and service records.
• Researching and resolving complex system problems.
• Completing paperwork and maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
• Performing other duties as assigned by the Senior Refrigeration Technician and VP of Maintenance and Operations.
