Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. in Amarillo, TX is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician who assists the Supervisor and ensures timely, safe operation of refrigeration systems and other processing equipment across the facility.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to read and interpret general safety procedures, and willingness to work in cold and hot environments, with lifting up to 100 pounds and climbing stairs or ladders.

Qualifications

• Must be Level 8 maintenance or above.
• Attendance: 4+ points or suspensions in past 12 months may disqualify.
• Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Must read, write, and interpret general equipment safety procedures.

This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by insuring the Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. This position is also responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

• This positions could work any department in Processing of this beef processing facility. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling and reaching are required in all areas and must be able to climb up/down stairs and ladders. Lifting up to 100 pounds is required.
• This position work in cold, damp or hot and humid environments (30 degrees to 105 degrees). Must be mechanically inclined. Welding experience preferred.

This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only.

Team members interested in transferring into this position from another Tyson facility should express interest through their local HR Partner.

Requirements:

Must be Level 8 maintenance or above. Candidates with 4 or more attendance points and/or any suspension in the past 12 months will not be considered. Must be able to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally. Additionally, they must be able to read, write, and interpret general equipment safety procedures to ensure safety.
