Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a General Mechanic for our beef processing facility in Amarillo, TX. This role covers operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems, ensuring safe work practices and adherence to Tyson policies.

Requires 6 months ammonia refrigeration or boiler room experience; 12 months mechanical work can substitute. Physical work in cold, damp environments; welding experience is preferred. Relocation not offered, attendance rules apply.

This position is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the refrigeration systems while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

• This General Mechanic positions could work any department in Processing of this beef processing facility. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling and reaching are required in all areas and must be able to climb up/down stairs and ladders. Lifting up to 100 pounds is required.
• This position work in cold, damp or hot and humid environments (30 degrees to 105 degrees). Must be mechanically inclined. Welding experience preferred.

Per the Union Contract, job bids are awarded to the team member with the greatest seniority within the Maintenance Division of the complex where the position is posted. Seniority from other divisions is not considered when determining the successful bidder. If no Maintenance Division team member is awarded the position, qualified production team members will then be considered based on their qualifications and ability to perform the job.

This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex only.

Requirements

6 months ammonia refrigeration or boiler room experience. 12 months experience of mechanical work will be considered in lieu of refrigeration experience. Qualifying candidates must take a tour before accepting a job offer. Candidates with 4 or more attendance points and/or any suspension in the past 12 months will not be considered. Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Must be able to read, write, and interpret general equipment safety procedures to ensure safety.
