Job summary

Hussmann Corporation is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain supermarket HVAC/R systems at customer sites. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accurate paperwork and parts management.

A strong mechanical aptitude and clean driving record are required. Valued candidates have EPA 608 certification and experience in commercial refrigeration, with the ability to read schematics and work nights/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma/GED (HVAC-R preferred).
• External candidates: 5 years in the field or 3 years with certification from a technical school.
• Internal candidates: 1 year as a Qualified Technician with completion of OJT & Skills Assessment

Responsibilities

• Perform prescribed routine maintenance on supermarket refrigeration systems and self-contained merchandisers.
• Provide preventative maintenance including compressor changes, leak checks, and coil cleaning.
• Detect and repair leaks on racks or piping; repair motors; use meters to diagnose issues.
• Complete work tickets and invoicing with handheld devices.
• Maintain truck inventory and adhere to vehicle maintenance guidelines.
• Develop and maintain customer relations and clearly communicate equipment issues.
• Understand electrical schematics: volts, amps, ohms.
• Troubleshoot TEV and perform replacements as needed.
• Understand refrigerant properties, system evacuation, charging, and pump-down.
• Knowledge of gauge, recovery, ECM, PSC, and three-phase motors.
• Safely handle R290 refrigerant and other hazardous materials.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned.
