Job summary

Tampa General Hospital seeks a Referral Specialist to provide excellent customer service to physicians and patients referred for appointments or services. You will assist with scheduling provider-referred visits within the health system and coordinate connections to outside groups as needed.

Responsibilities include processing referrals, obtaining authorizations, registering patients, scheduling, check-in/out in clinics, and communicating with providers and patients to keep the process running

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years of customer service experience in healthcare.

Description

The Referral Specialist's primary role is to provide excellent customer service to physicians and patients referred for appointments or services at or from Tampa General Hospital (or a related company). The referrals specialist assists patients and providers with scheduling provider-referred appointments within the health system or facilitating connections to outside groups at provider direction or based upon patient preference. The referral specialist obtains or facilitates authorizations and may support the practice with non-referral work including patient registration, appointment scheduling, and check-in/out if working in a clinic.
