Job summary

Prosser Memorial Health is seeking two referral coordinators to join our outpatient services team in Prosser, Washington. You will verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, schedule referrals, and register patients, ensuring accurate, timely communication across departments.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (GED accepted), about one year of medical experience with insurance/referral processes, and strong knowledge of CPT/ICD codes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD codes.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information and work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Check insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for referrals, visits, procedures, and testing.
• Ensure referrals are authorized and scheduled; monitor loop closure.
• Coordinate appointments and communicate with patients.
• Register patients and collect necessary information in electronic format.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure complete patient information.

Job Summary:

Responsible for checking insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations for outgoing specialist visits, procedures, and testing. Ensuring all incoming referrals for office visits, procedures, and testing have been authorized and scheduled. Additionally, the referral coordinator’s responsibilities include appointment coordination, patient communication, and registering patients.Will work together with other departments and/or organizations to assure all necessary patient information is provided and/or obtained, and in electronic format whenever possible.Ensures all patient referrals are monitored for loop closure; determine patients attended appointments or not and consultation notes have been received or sent.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or GED.

One-year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization fundamentals.

Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD codes.

Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.

Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.

Ability to work in an environment of continuous change.

Ability to manage priorities and work under deadlines.

Compensation & Benefits
