Job summary

Prosser Memorial Health is seeking a part-time Referral Coordinator to manage insurance verification and obtain prior authorizations for outgoing specialist visits, procedures, and testing.

You will ensure all referrals are authorized and scheduled, coordinate appointments, communicate with patients, and register new patients, while collaborating with other departments to provide complete records in electronic format.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization fundamentals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD codes.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
• Ability to handle patient and organizational information in a confidential manner.
• Ability to work in an environment of continuous change.
• Ability to manage priorities and work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Check insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for referrals, visits, procedures, and testing.
• Ensure incoming referrals for visits, procedures, and testing are authorized and scheduled.
• Coordinate appointments, communicate with patients, and register patients.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure necessary patient information is provided in electronic format.
• Monitor referrals for loop closure; determine attendance and whether notes have been received or sent.

PT, 40 hrs/pp, 0.5 FTE; varies as scheduled.

Job Summary:

Responsible for checking insurance benefits and obtaining prior authorizations for outgoing specialist visits, procedures, and testing. Ensuring all incoming referrals for office visits, procedures, and testing have been authorized and scheduled. Additionally, the referral coordinator’s responsibilities include appointment coordination, patient communication, and registering patients.Will work together with other departments and/or organizations to assure all necessary patient information is provided and/or obtained, and in electronic format whenever possible.Ensures all patient referrals are monitored for loop closure; determine patients attended appointments or not and consultation notes have been received or sent.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• One-year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization fundamentals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD codes.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
