Job summary

Christ Health Center, Inc. is seeking a Medical Records and Referral Specialist to manage referrals and medical records with accuracy and professionalism.

You will answer referral lines, process inbox orders, schedule outside-provider appointments, and communicate with patients about referrals. Responsibilities include processing medical records requests, ensuring HIPAA compliance, and maintaining EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• HIPAA knowledge required and demonstrated in daily tasks.
• Experience handling medical records requests and legal documents.
• Excellent verbal, organizational, and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment; accuracy a must.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and typing ≥35 wpm.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred to assist diverse patients.

Responsibilities

• Process orders and referrals for outside services in a timely manner.
• Answer, triage, and document referrals via phone and inbox.
• Schedule appointments with outside providers and communicate with patients.
• Process medical records requests, including general and legal subpoenas.
• Scan, file, and maintain EMR documentation with HIPAA compliance.
• Manage the Medical Records Inbox and assist with chart audits.
• Support prior authorization workflows for referrals as required.
• Maintain positive relationships with referral health networks and agencies.
• Participate in team huddles and daily care coordination as needed.
