Job summary

Utah Department of Corrections is seeking a Reentry Housing Coordinator to lead housing pathways for individuals transitioning from state facilities or supervision. The role focuses on connecting housing with transportation, employment, healthcare, and wrap‑around supports in West Jordan, UT.

The position is full-time and in‑office with a strong emphasis on collaboration with housing authorities and service providers. Background checks and drug testing are required as part of the process.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of HUD programs, Section 8, Housing First models, Rapid Re-Housing, Permanent Supportive Housing, and local Utah housing inventory.
• Understanding of how stable housing intersects with workforce development, Medicaid/healthcare navigation, substance use recovery, and public transportation infrastructure.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices, trauma-informed care, risk-reduction strategies, and barriers facing justice-involved populations.
• Proven ability to negotiate, build trust, and maintain relationships with landlords, non-profits, and government agencies.

Responsibilities

• Housing Network & Community Partnership Development: cultivate housing providers, landlords, shelters, rapid re-housing, and supportive housing programs; liaise with Continuums of Care and housing authorities.
• Individual Navigation & Service Delivery: evaluate housing barriers and map stabilization plans; coordinate wrap-around services for long-term housing retention.
• Pre-Release Planning & Transition Coordination: collaborate with discharge planners and officers to plan housing 90 days before release; facilitate warm handoffs to community housing.
• Cross-System Communication & Safety Alignment: bridge non-profit housing entities and probation/parole staff; ensure plans comply with supervision conditions.
