Job summary

City of Indianapolis, through Indy Parks & Recreation, seeks a coordinator to oversee facilities, programs, and services across aquatic, day camp, recreational and sports activities. You will design and evaluate offerings, schedule classes, and ensure safety and policy compliance in a collaborative municipal setting.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation Administration, and/or related field preferred. One (1) year of related work experience may be substituted for each year of formal education.
• Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be self-motivated and dependable.
• Ability to plan and organize events and meetings to include agendas and timelines.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet various deadlines; strong oral and written communication; customer service oriented.
• Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Publisher; Valid Indiana operator’s license; CPRP (preferred) and NYSCA Clinician Certification; First Aid Certificate; commitment to equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Designs, implements, and evaluates programs and services including aquatic, day camp, recreational and sports programs, special events, and field trips.
• Schedules classes and assists in leading classes.
• Follows Indy Parks and Recreation policies and procedures.
• Interacts with community committees and boards as requested.
• Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, evaluating, and advising on-site personnel, volunteers, and contractors.
• Supervises participant safety and coordinates with managers to address safety concerns.
• Coordinates daily program communications and marketing with the community and staff.
• Uses software platforms (ActiveNet, InforPS, Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, NeoGov, WebEx) to organize and document work.
• Maintains all records for reporting and audits.
