Job description

Job Title: Guest Services Supervisor

Livonia Parks and Recreation is seeking a dedicated Guest Services Supervisor to lead a team of part-time staff in providing exceptional customer service and enhancing guest experiences. The role requires availability to the public and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary Range:
  • Starting Salary: $48,401.60
  • After Six Months: $49,441.60
  • After One Year: $50,252.80
  • Maximum salary is achieved after three successful years of employment.

Note: Annual salary adjustments may occur based on collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide customer service via phone, email, and in person, addressing inquiries and complaints.
  • Supervise guest services operations, including training staff, scheduling, and policy compliance audits.
  • Manage personnel through open communication, training, coaching, and counseling, reinforcing the City’s core values.
  • Lead the selection, hiring, and training of staff, providing daily leadership.
  • Oversee CivicRec system administration and train staff on its use.
  • Support registration software troubleshooting and technical issues.
  • Build effective relationships with staff, community groups, and the public.
  • Plan and execute Recreation Center Open House events and assist with special projects and events.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • U.S. citizen or resident alien authorized to work in the U.S.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, with at least two years of related experience or training.
  • Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant work experience.

Preferred: Lifeguard certification, LGI, WSI, or Instructor Trainer.

Examination and Selection:
  • 100% - Interview
  • If applications exceed eight, the most qualified will be invited for an interview based on experience and training.

Applicants must pass the interview to be placed on the eligible list. Knowledge of POS operations, budgeting, and reporting tools like CivicRec and MS Excel is required. Effective communication skills and cash handling skills are essential.

Additional Requirements:

Applicants must pass a pre-employment medical exam conducted by a City-approved physician. The purpose of this exam is to establish an eligible list for current and future vacancies.
