Job description

Livonia Parks and Recreation is looking for a new Guest Services Supervisor to lead a team of high-performing part-time staff in delivering quality customer service and guest experience. This employee shall be available to the public and work a flexible schedule. This may include working evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Recreation Supervisor - Guest Services will:

  • Provide customer service by answering the telephone, voicemails, and emails, answering questions and providinginformation, and responding to customer complaints
  • Supervise the guest services area by training staff on proper cash and registration procedures, preparing workschedules for employees, and auditing employees to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Effectively manage personnel that reinforces the City's Core Values and philosophies through opencommunication, training, coaching, and counseling
  • Manage all aspects of the selection, hiring, and education process, and provide daily leadership for the guest service team
  • Oversee CivicRec administration and compatibility, and train appropriate staff on system use
  • Provide technical support for registration software for customers and staff
  • Assist with troubleshooting payment issues and membership issues in the registration software
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants,community groups, and the public
  • Plan and implement the Recreation Center Open House (one or two per year).
  • Assist with the department's special projects and special events

Starting Salary: $48,401.60
After Six Months of Successful Employment: $49,441.60
After One Year of Successful Employment: $50,252.80
Maximum salary is achieved after three successful years of employment.

By the closing date of this announcement, an applicant must:

  1. Be a citizen of the United States or resident alien with the right to work in the United States; and
  2. Have a high school diploma or its equivalent; and
  3. Have an associate degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school; and at least two years relatedexperience and/or training; or
  4. Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with one year of relevant work experience.

NOTE: Lifeguard certification, LGI, WSI, or Instructor Trainer is preferred.

NOTE: In the event the number of qualified applicants exceeds eight, an evaluation will be made of the applicants andthe eight applicants with the most appropriate and responsible combination of experience and training will be invited tothe Interview. Candidates must pass the Interview to be placed on the Eligible List.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of and ability to use:
POS operations, budgeting, and reporting using various applications such as CivicRec, MS Excel, etc.


Ability to:
Communicate effectively orally, and in writing.


Skill in:
Cash handling.
