Qualifications:

Knowledge & Education

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation, business or public administration, or a related field.
• Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, program development, implementation, evaluation, and project management.

Skills & Abilities

• Plan, develop, organize, oversee, and manage a comprehensive and dynamic community recreation program.
• Think creatively, be flexible, and be willing to solve problems in innovative ways.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, practices, policies, procedures, operational plans, and work plans.
• Build recreation programs from the ground up and evaluate existing programs for improvements or cancellation; find a good balance between programmed experiences and drop-in opportunities.
• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of innovative recreational programs, including sports, fitness, aquatics, arts, adaptive programs, seniors, and special events, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the community.
• Plan, manage, and oversee the daily operations of the Recreation Division.
• Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the division; recommend appropriate service and staffing levels; develop and administer policies and procedures.

Experience & Licenses

• Six (6) years of increasingly responsible recreation programming experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
• Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of employment, a valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification issued by the American Red Cross, to be maintained throughout employment.
