Knowledge & Education
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in recreation, business or public administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, program development, implementation, evaluation, and project management.
Skills & Abilities
  • Plan, develop, organize, oversee, and manage a comprehensive and dynamic community recreation program.
  • Think creatively, be flexible, and have a willingness to solve problems in new and different ways.
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, practices, policies, procedures, operation plans, and work plans.
  • Build recreation programs from the ground up and evaluate existing programs for improvements or cancellation; find a good balance between programmed experiences and drop-in use opportunities.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of innovative recreational programs, including sports, fitness, aquatics, arts, adaptive, seniors, and special events, ensuring they meet community needs.
  • Plan, manage, and oversee the daily operations of the Recreation Division.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of division goals, policies, and priorities; recommend service and staffing levels; administer policies and procedures.
Experience & Licenses
  • Six (6) years of increasingly responsible recreation programming experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Possession of, or successful acquisition within 12 months of employment, a valid CPR, AED, and first aid certification issued by the American Red Cross, to be maintained throughout employment.

This position is FLSA Exempt - ineligible for overtime compensation.
