Summary

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY HAMPTON ROADS NORTHWEST CHESAPEAKE, VA MWR AQUATICS. The incumbent provides lifeguard duties, safeguards lives, and assists with aquatic training, education, and general support at the installation.

Duties

1. Performs all pool and/or waterfront lifeguard responsibilities, including supervising swimmers, monitoring activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules, and performing water rescues.
2. Observes conditions to ensure safety, removing hazards as necessary.
3. Performs rescue work, CPR, and first aid, and calls for medical assistance when needed.
4. Conducts chemical testing of pool water, adjusting chemicals as directed.
5. Documents water and weather conditions.
6. Administers aquatic assessment testing and certification per policies.
7. Provides equipment orientations and checks identification and usage fees.
8. Acts as liaison during emergencies and performs cleaning and maintenance duties.
9. Inspects safety equipment and facilities, reports deficiencies, and maintains emergency equipment.
10. Enforces policies and prepares incident reports.
11. Works with hazardous materials safely.

Requirements

• Must pass background checks and E-Verify.
• NF-1: Obtain Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogens certifications within 30 days.
• NF-2: Upload certifications to qualify.

Qualifications

NF-1: Closer supervision, guided by supervisors or leads, with limited decision-making authority.

NF-2: Knowledge of safety rules, policies, chemical testing, rescue techniques, and effective communication skills.

Education

No specific education requirement.
