Duties

Pool and/or Waterfront Lifeguard duties comprise 60% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to:

• Performs all pool and/or waterfront lifeguard responsibilities (e.g., supervising swimmers/patrons, monitoring water activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules, reporting hazards, performing rescues).
• Observes conditions of the area to ensure safety and removes hazards.
• Performs rescue work, provides CPR or first aid, and calls for medical assistance when needed.
• Conducts and documents chemical testing, adjusts chemicals as directed.
• Documents marine life, water, and weather conditions.

General duties comprise 40% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to:

• Administers aquatic assessment testing and certifications per policy.
• Provides equipment orientations and checks patron IDs and fees.
• Acts as liaison during emergencies and performs routine maintenance and inspections.
• Enforces policies and prepares incident reports.
• Works with hazardous materials and maintains emergency equipment.

• Must pass background check and E-Verify.
• NF-2 must upload certifications: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens.

Qualifications

Resumes must demonstrate experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). A qualified candidate must possess:

• Knowledge of safety rules, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to identify hazards, provide instructions, and conduct safety inspections.
• Proficiency in pool chemical testing and rescue techniques.
• Effective communication skills and ability to control large groups.

This position does not have a positive education requirement.
