Summary
This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Naval Station Norfolk Aquatics. The incumbent provides lifeguard duties, safeguarding lives at the work area, and assists with aquatic training, education, and support at the installation.

Duties

1. Pool and waterfront lifeguard responsibilities including supervising swimmers, monitoring activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules, performing water rescues, and reporting hazards.
2. Observing water and environmental conditions to ensure safety, removing hazards as needed.
3. Performing rescues, CPR, and first aid, and calling for medical assistance when necessary.
4. Conducting chemical testing of pools, maintaining proper chemical levels, and documenting results.
5. Monitoring marine life, water, and weather conditions.
6. Providing aquatic assessment testing and certification per DoD, DON, and CNIC policies.
7. Providing equipment orientations, checking IDs, and managing usage fees.
8. Serving as liaison during emergencies, performing cleaning and maintenance, inspecting safety equipment, and enforcing policies.
9. Preparing incident reports and managing emergency equipment and hazardous materials.

Requirements

• Must pass background checks and E-Verify.
• NF-2 must upload certifications: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens.

Qualifications

Resumes should demonstrate experience and KSAs related to pool and waterfront safety, policies, chemical testing, rescue techniques, and communication skills. Knowledge of cash handling and hazard identification is also required.
