Summary

This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek - Ft. Story - GATOR WATER PARK & PIERSIDE POOL. Incumbent provides lifeguard duties; is responsible for safeguarding the lives of persons at the assigned work area; assists with aquatic training, education, and general support at the installation.

Duties

Pool and/or Waterfront Lifeguard duties comprise 60% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to:

• Supervising swimmers/patrons, monitoring water activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules, reporting hazards, performing rescues.
• Observing water conditions, removing hazards, performing rescues, administering CPR and first aid, calling for medical assistance.
• Conducting and documenting chemical testing, adjusting chemicals, and monitoring water and weather conditions.

General duties comprise 40% of incumbent's time and include:

• Administering aquatic assessment testing, providing equipment orientations, checking IDs, collecting fees.
• Serving as liaison during emergencies, performing cleaning and maintenance, inspecting safety equipment, enforcing policies, preparing incident reports, working with hazardous materials.

• Pass background check, E-Verify, and provide certifications: Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens.

Qualifications

• Pool and waterfront safety, policies, cash handling, hazard identification, water safety instruction, safety inspections, chemical testing, rescue skills, communication, and control of large groups.
