Job summary

Connections Health Solutions is a crisis-focused behavioral health provider offering immediate-access care and recovery-oriented treatment. The Recovery Support Specialist – Training (RSS-T) position is a developmental role for individuals pursuing Virginia CRS certification, with up to 500 supervised hours and structured mentorship toward certification.

Under supervision, you will build peer relationships, support treatment goals, and collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to promote

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of DBDHS 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist training.
• Minimum 1 year of personal recovery or related experience.
• Registered with VA Board of Counseling.
• Experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and basic computer skills.
• Adherence to Peer Recovery Specialist Code of Ethics.
• Ability to perform Safe Clinch restraint techniques.
• Must meet vaccination policy and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Builds meaningful therapeutic relationships with individuals through peer support and recovery-focused guidance.
• Acts as a recovery advocate, helping individuals identify strengths and participate in treatment planning.
• Shares lived recovery experiences appropriately to inspire hope and model recovery.
• Facilitates psychoeducational and recovery-oriented groups.
• Provides one-on-one peer support and coaching to assist goal development.
• Collaborates with nursing, clinical, medical, and operational teams for coordinated care.
• Uses trauma-informed, recovery-oriented practices to promote safety.
• Assists individuals in accessing community resources for transitions and wellness.
• Maintains professional boundaries and adheres to peer support standards and ethics.
• Documents all interactions in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Supports daily therapeutic programming and a recovery-focused environment.
• Participates in supervision and competency assessments for professional growth.
• Demonstrates increasing proficiency in peer recovery support competencies.
