Job summary

Connections Health Solutions in Virginia is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) to assist individuals in recovery. The RSS will work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide peer support, facilitate group sessions, document encounters in the EHR, and connect clients with community resources.

Ideal candidates have at least one year of personal recovery, certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist, Virginia fingerprint clearance, and the ability to pass required background checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of personal recovery.
• Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Registered with VA Board of Counseling and maintains registration throughout employment.
• The Company has a mandatory vaccination policy. All successful applicants must be fully vaccinated or exempt per policy.
• State of Virginia Fingerprint Clearance.
• Must pass VA DBHDS background check.
• Must obtain a State of Virginia Food Handlers Card.

Responsibilities

• Acts as an active facilitator (or co-facilitator) in groups and individual recovery; serves as advocate and support resource.
• Lessen seclusion and restraint by building therapeutic alliance and practicing trauma-informed care.
• Demonstrates knowledge of community resources to meet recovery needs; promotes multiple paths of recovery.
• Collaborates with a multi-discipline team throughout treatment and recovery.
• Documents all encounters in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Uses appropriate self-disclosure to support individuals' recovery.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
