Job summary

Phoenix House seeks a dedicated Recovery Support Specialist in Brentwood, NY to join our values-based team. You will help manage shift changes, facilitate crisis intervention counseling, conduct group intake, and ensure residents follow the daily program schedule.

Responsibilities include monitoring attendance and participation, safety checks, and assisting in the medication room when needed. Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma and at least two years in a substance use disorder

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to supervise groups and support staff in a treatment setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and teams.
  • Ability to maintain ethical boundaries and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule and track attendance.
  • Monitor participation in program events and activities.
  • Conduct routine room/bed checks for resident safety and presence.
  • Assist in the medication room and medical processes as needed.
  • Lead shift duties and report incidents to the Manager on Call.
  • Mentor patients toward success and appropriate social interactions.
  • Provide safe transportation to off-site appointments when required.
