Job summary

Phoenix House in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to join a values-driven team committed to recovery.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) in good standing.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a substance use disorder treatment setting, including working with patients with co-occurring disorders.

Responsibilities

• Ensures patients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule, tracking attendance.
• Monitors participation in program events and activities.
• Conducts and documents routine room/bed checks (minimally every thirty minutes) for resident safety.
• Conducts facility safety and security checks.
• Reviews client belongings upon admission to ensure program compliance.
• Performs contraband searches and drug screen administration per policies.
• Assumes lead duties for shifts to ensure schedule adherence and proper documentation.
• Mentors patients toward success in the program, including behavior, school work, and social interactions.
• Provides safe transportation of patients to off-site appointments as needed.
• Assists in the medication room as needed.

As a Recovery Support Specialist at Phoenix House, you will participate and facilitate the occurrence of shift change, provide Criss intervention counseling, conduct group intake, ensure that client adhere to the day-to-day program schedule, tracking attendance and monitoring participation in program events and activities.

You Will Have Responsibilities Including But Not Limited To

• Ensures that patients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule, tracking attendance as required.


• Monitors participation in program events and activities.


• Conducts and documents appropriately room/bed checks (minimally every thirty minutes) to ensure resident safety and presence.


• Conducts routine facility checks to ensure facility safety and security.


• Reviews client property/items upon admission or receipt to ensure compliance with facility and program rules.


• Conducts contraband searches and drug screen analysis administration in accordance with policies and procedures.


• Assumes lead duties for shift(s) as assigned, which includes ensuring that the program schedule is followed, all duties are assigned and completed by team during the shift and critical incidents are reported to the Manager on Call and appropriately documented.


• Mentors patients towards success in program including but not limited to behavior modification, program rules, school work, job responsibilities and appropriate social interactions with peers, family and staff.


• Provides safe, timely, and supervised transportation of patients to off-site appointments or activities as needed.


• Assist in the medication room, as needed.

Required Experience

• Minimum two years’ experience working in a substance use disorder treatment setting, including working with patients with co-occurring disorders.


• Trained to dispense medications to clients in case of emergency.
