Job summary

Phoenix House in New York is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to join our Long Island City residential team. You will participate in shift changes, monitor participation in program events, and help ensure clients follow the daily schedule.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor Trainee (CASAC-T) in good standing.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a substance use disorder treatment setting.
  • Trained to dispense medications to clients in case of emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures patients adhere to the day-to-day program schedule and attendance is tracked.
  • Monitors participation in program events and activities.
  • Conducts routine room/bed checks to ensure resident safety and presence.
  • Performs facility safety checks and screen for contraband as required.
  • Assumes lead duties for shift and ensures tasks are completed; reports incidents.
  • Provides supervised transportation to off-site appointments or activities.
  • Maintains timely documentation in logs and reports; assists with filing and data-entry.
