Job summary

Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to assist with shift changes, provide Criss intervention counseling, conduct group intake, and monitor daily program adherence for residents in Hauppauge, NY. This role requires a High School diploma, CASAC-T in good standing, and at least two years in a substance use disorder setting.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • CASAC-T credential in good standing.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in SUD treatment setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures patients adhere to day-to-day program schedule and tracks attendance.
  • Monitors participation in program events and activities.
  • Conducts room/bed checks (min 30 mins) to ensure resident safety and presence.
  • Performs routine facility checks for safety and security.
  • Reviews client property upon admission to ensure compliance with rules.
  • Conducts contraband searches and drug screen administration per policy.
  • Assumes lead duties for shifts, ensuring schedule adherence and incident reporting.
  • Mentors patients toward successful program participation and appropriate social interactions.
  • Provides safe transportation to off-site appointments as needed.
  • Assists in the medication room when required.
