Job summary

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) seeks a compassionate Peer Specialist to join our CSU team, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges toward independence and wellness. The role relies on lived experience to build authentic connections and provide milieu and case management during Drop-In services, empowering clients to define recovery goals.

Qualifications

  • Lived experience with behavioral health concerns.
  • Completion of Clinical Peer Specialist or Peer Coach training within six months of hire.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Required Vaccination and TB Test as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients in articulating personal recovery goals during one-to-one meetings and group sessions.
  • Support clients in identifying and creating recovery plans with available skills and resources.
  • Provide follow-up services post-admission or assessment to ensure successful transition to community services.
  • Coordinate with clients' case managers to determine steps toward self-directed recovery.
  • Meet clients in various settings including homes, outpatient settings, and community agencies.
  • Connect clients to community resources for housing, healthcare, transportation, and employment.
