Job summary

Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a compassionate Peer Specialist to join our CSU team. You will use lived experience to connect with clients experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges, guiding recovery goals and linking them to housing, healthcare and community supports.

This on-site role emphasizes empathy, advocacy, and strength-based support. You will work closely with clinical staff to ensure continuity of care, provide milieu and case management support, and

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Lived experience with behavioral health concerns.
• Completion of Clinical Peer Specialist or Peer Coach training within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients in articulating personal recovery goals during one-to-one meetings and group sessions.
• Support development of recovery plans using individual strengths, supports and resources.
• Provide follow-up support after admission or assessment to ensure smooth transitions to community services.
• Coordinate with case managers and treatment teams to outline steps toward recovery objectives.
• Meet clients in various settings including homes, outpatient sites and community agencies.
