Job summary

DESC’s WellConnect program seeks a Peer Specialist to support Permanent Supportive Housing residents with mental health needs. This role leverages lived experience to guide participants through recovery, symptom management, and community integration, coordinating with the team for holistic care.

Team members provide wrap-around services and participate in on-site, 24/7 coverage, including on-call rotations. A Washington State Certified Peer Support Specialist license is required.

Qualifications

• Active Washington State Certified Peer Support Specialist license.
• Experience as a recipient of mental health services.
• Willing to use personal lived experience to help others.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer counseling and support to participants.
• Mentor participants to promote hope and empowerment.
• Act as an interpreter for non-mental health staff.
• Provide expertise on recovery, symptoms and treatment from a peer perspective.
• Assist with benefits enrollment, re-certifications and case management tasks.
• Support activities of daily living and housing stability.
