Job summary

BHS, based in Seattle, seeks a Peer Support Specialist to provide recovery-oriented support in behavioral health services. You will draw on your lived experience to guide clients toward self-determination and ongoing recovery, while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities include mentoring individuals, coordinating with clinical teams, leading groups, and documenting progress. CPSS certification is required; travel to nursing facilities is essential.

Qualifications

• CPSS certification by Washington Health Care Authority (HCA) is required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a peer support training program
• TB screening within last 12 months
• Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination if required by facilities

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support and mentorship to individuals receiving behavioral health services
• Empathize, validate, and connect with individuals navigating mental health or substance use challenges
• Foster a supportive, non-judgmental environment
• Assist individuals in developing coping skills and problem-solving techniques
• Advocate for rights and preferences of individuals in treatment
• Coordinate care with clinical staff and treatment team
• Facilitate peer-led support groups and educational sessions
• Maintain documentation adhering to confidentiality and privacy regulations
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations
• Complete mandatory trainings and certifications
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
