Job summary

LifeWorks in Austin, TX is seeking a Part-time Peer Support Specialist to join our Peer Services team. The role supports clients through group facilitation, individual mentorship, and community engagement using trauma-informed, strength-based approaches.

The position offers a fixed Saturday shift from 12:00pm–8:00pm, with additional hours as available, up to 19 hours per week and starting pay of $22.75 per hour. Prior peer support experience and PSS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Requires GED or HS Diploma and 2 years of peer support experience.
• Requires state certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS).
• Requires lived experience with 1) trauma and 2) substance use or mental health challenges.
• Experience with databases; proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, healing-centered peer support services to diverse individuals.
• Promote recovery, resiliency, and accountability to support long-term recovery.
• Meet with clients to establish safe relationships and coordinate services.
• Facilitate regular peer support groups and social activities on-site or in the community.
• Engage in outreach to connect individuals with LifeWorks services.
• Develop recovery-related presentations and outreach on various topics.
• Advocate for clients within the community and internally.
