Job summary

LifeWorks is seeking a Part-time, on-site Peer Support Specialist in Austin, TX. The role supports individuals through group facilitation, mentorship, and community collaboration using trauma-informed, strength-based approaches.

The position is non-exempt, up to 19 hours weekly with a fixed Saturday shift (12:00pm–8:00pm) and additional 8‑hour or 4‑hour shifts as available; starting wage is $22.75 per hour.

Qualifications

• Requires GED or HS Diploma and 2 years of peer support experience.
• Requires obtaining state certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS).
• Lived experience with trauma, substance use, or mental health challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered peer support services to diverse individuals.
• Promote recovery, resiliency, and accountability.
• Meet with clients to establish safe relationships for learning and problem-solving.
• Facilitate on-site and community-based support groups and activities.
• Engage in outreach to connect with individuals unfamiliar with LifeWorks services.
• Develop and deliver recovery-focused presentations and outreach.
