Job summary

LifeWorks of Austin is hiring a full-time Peer Support Specialist to join the community-based Peer Services team. This role uses lived experience and training to provide support, group facilitation, mentorship, and outreach for individuals in recovery, with a focus on trauma-informed care.

The position is full-time, on-site with a starting wage of $22.75/hour, paid bi-weekly. Benefits include PTO, holidays, health plans with HSA, and retirement contributions.

Qualifications

• GED or HS Diploma required.
• Must obtain Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) certification.
• Lived experience with trauma and with substance use or mental health challenges.
• Experience with databases and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered peer support to diverse individuals with homelessness, trauma, mental health, or substance use challenges.
• Promote recovery, resiliency, and accountability to support long‑term recovery and wellness.
• Meet with clients to build safe relationships and coordinate services; refer and connect to community resources.
