Job summary

LifeWorks in Austin, TX is seeking a part-time Peer Support Specialist to join our Peer Services team. This role uses lived experience and training to provide support, education, and mentorship to individuals through group facilitation, outreach, and recovery-focused activities.

The position is 19 hours per week, with a fixed Saturday shift from 12:00pm to 8:00pm and additional shifts as available. Starting pay is $22.75 per hour.

Qualifications

• Requires GED or HS Diploma and 2 years of peer support experience.
• Requires state certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (PSS).
• Requires lived experience with trauma and substance use or mental health challenges; maintain recovery over 2 years.
• Experience with databases; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centered, healing-centered peer support services to diverse individuals.
• Promote recovery, resiliency, and accountability to help others achieve long-term recovery.
• Meet with clients to establish safe relationships for learning and problem-solving; assist in building a support network.
• Facilitate regular support groups and social activities on site or in the community.
• Engage in outreach to connect with individuals unfamiliar with LifeWorks services.
• Develop and deliver recovery-related presentations and outreach on relevant topics.
• Advocate for clients to ensure needs are recognized and addressed.
• Maintain relationships with staff and community contacts; document progress in the database.
