Job summary

Community Health Associates seeks a Peer Support Specialist to work in the clinical department, using lived recovery experience to provide unconditional, nonjudgmental support to adults and children. The role emphasizes helping members begin a higher quality of life through partnership and skills development.

Work includes individual and group sessions on site and in home settings, collaborating with the treatment team, and assisting with community resource navigation and goal setting.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and completion of Peer Support training within 6 months.
• Has personal experience with behavioral health or substance use recovery, or as a family member of someone in recovery.
• Ability to respond with patience, objectivity, and a nonjudgmental attitude.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support to engage members in a recovery partnership and help identify hopes for the future.
• Deliver rehabilitation and support services through individual and group sessions on site and in clients' homes.
• Assist members in identifying, navigating, and using community resources.
• Transport members to appointments as appropriate.
• Set personal recovery goals with members and support adherence to treatment plans.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to determine steps toward identified goals.
