Job summary

Apis Services, Inc. seeks a Peer Specialist to provide recovery-oriented peer support to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions. The role uses lived experience to promote hope, self-determination, wellness, and recovery while helping clients reach personal goals.

The Peer Specialist works within an ACT/ACT Plus team, offering advocacy, trauma-informed support, and guidance to build coping skills, community connections, and quality of life.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Lived experience with mental health, substance use recovery, or co-occurring conditions strongly preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required or obtainable upon hire.
  • Experience working with underserved populations preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum three (3) years of continuous driving experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use conditions.
  • Utilize lived experience to promote recovery, resilience, hope, and self-determination.
  • Develop coping skills, wellness strategies, and recovery goals.
  • Facilitate peer-led recovery support groups and activities.
  • Support housing, employment, education, and community integration.
  • Develop and implement person-centered treatment and recovery plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Document time worked accurately.
  • Maintain client documentation and records.
