Job summary

Care New England is hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist to provide peer support, advocacy, and recovery services within a multidisciplinary team in Rhode Island. The role focuses on assisting clients to regain control over their lives, with emphasis on personal wellness, coping skills, and community integration.

The position requires lived experience with substance use and/or mental health disorders, CPRS certification (or plan to obtain within one year), and strong knowledge of housing,

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of lived experience with substance use and/or mental health disorders; able to share experiences constructively.
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and systems, including housing, education, employment, and healthcare.
  • CPRS certification or plan to obtain within one year of hire; able to maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support, advocate for clients, and assist with recovery-focused needs.
  • Coordinate services and develop client-centered care plans with care teams.
  • Deliver in-person contacts in office and community settings, maintaining program standards.
  • Lead or co-lead groups on life skills, benefits/resources, and self-directed advocacy.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic records and comply with regulations.
