Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to provide peer support and care coordination to adults with behavioral health needs. The role involves joining a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, motivate clients, and facilitate access to treatment and supports.

Responsibilities include coaching, advocating, and coordinating services while maintaining compassionate, recovery-oriented care and documentation.

Qualifications

• In personal recovery from a mental health or substance use condition and has used related services.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to complete certification as a peer recovery specialist.
• Maintained at least 2 years of sobriety or absence of drug use.
• Valid driver’s license and means of transportation to perform job functions.

Responsibilities

• Works with outpatient and substance use disorder clients to support adults in mental health and substance use challenges.
• Provides opportunities for individuals to direct their own recovery process.
• Coaches and supports acquisition and use of skills for recovery.
• Assists clients in identifying personal strengths and recovery goals and advocates for themselves.
• Promotes use of community resources and helps access services.
