Job summary

Spokane Public Schools is seeking a Dispatcher/Routing Specialist to design, monitor, and adjust student transport routes using GPS and routing software. You will act as the main communication conduit among drivers, school staff, families and vendors to ensure safe and timely service.

Responsibilities include real-time issue response, route planning, scheduling drivers for events, and maintaining accurate records while complying with district policies and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; substitution allowed.
• Two years dispatch/routing/transportation admin experience preferred.
• Valid WA Class B CDL with endorsements or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Strong knowledge of Spokane area and transportation operations.
• Detail-oriented, dependable, able to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, monitor, and adjust routes to meet time, safety, and cost targets.
• Serve as primary communication point between drivers, staff, families, vendors, and admins.
• Provide real-time dispatch support for incidents, weather, and delays.
• Read maps, interpret routes, and coordinate with stakeholders on changes.
• Schedule drivers for special events and coordinate with transportation needs.
• Ensure district compliance with state rules and district policies.
• Prepare transportation-related reports and maintain records.
• Assist with backup dispatch and routing for unassigned areas as needed.
