Job summary

Summit School Services is seeking a dispatch coordinator to manage daily driver assignments, routes, and field trips. The role requires coordinating with drivers, maintaining accurate route data, and ensuring on-time service while handling emergencies and inquiries.

The ideal candidate has dispatch experience, good map-reading ability, and strong communication skills. Knowledge of routing software and MS Office is a plus, with bilingual abilities considered a benefit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Dispatch experience preferred.
• Knowledge of local geography for efficient routing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills under pressure.
• Ability to read maps and interpret instructions.

Responsibilities

• Directs and monitors daily assignments; schedules drivers, bus assistants, and assigns vehicles to ensure daily coverage of routes, field trips, and charter work.
• Ensures on-time completion of daily activities by drivers and bus assistants.
• Communicates driving assignments clearly to drivers for proper execution.
• Assists drivers with routing directions and coordinates special services when needed.
• Responds to emergencies; coordinates repairs and replacement buses and drivers as required.
• Notifies district and building personnel of route changes, emergencies, and disruptions.
• Maintains route documentation and records for accuracy and compliance with requirements.
• Coordinates vehicle service with Maintenance Supervisor to ensure uninterrupted service.
• Handles customer concerns and escalates unresolved issues as appropriate.
• Exhibits integrity and reports suspicious or inappropriate behavior.
