Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a backend-focused engineer to build and operate distributed systems for real-time blockchain data ingestion, indexing, and querying.

You will own end-to-end delivery of initiatives like chain integrations and migrations, driving latency, reliability, and cost improvements. The role emphasizes Go and/or Python proficiency, knowledge of Kafka, gRPC, Redis, S3, ClickHouse, and MongoDB, and a track record turning ambiguous problems into clear designs with measurable impact.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience in production systems.
• Backend systems design fundamentals including partitioning and consistency.
• Proficiency in Go and/or Python; familiarity with Kafka, gRPC, Redis, S3, ClickHouse, or MongoDB.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear designs with measurable impact.
• Blockchain/crypto data experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate distributed systems for real-time blockchain data ingestion, indexing, and query, end-to-end from design to production.
• Own delivery of initiatives like new chain integrations, migrations, and backfills to improve latency, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with product/platform teams to define data contracts and contribute to SDKs and primitives.
• Implement architecture and performance improvements across the indexing stack with solid systems design.
• Support engineering quality via code reviews, testing, and AI-assisted tooling.
