Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Blockchain Data Platform to build and operate a low-latency indexing platform. You will own end-to-end services from design through production, handling real-time ingestion, indexing and query across major blockchains.

Requirements include 2+ years in distributed systems, strong Go/Python skills, and familiarity with Kafka, gRPC, Redis, S3, ClickHouse, or MongoDB.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating distributed or data systems in production.
• Strong systems design fundamentals including partitioning, consistency/availability tradeoffs, stream processing, and storage/compute boundaries.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Go and/or Python, with familiarity across Kafka, gRPC, Redis, S3, ClickHouse, or MongoDB.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear designs and ship solutions with measurable impact.
• Blockchain or crypto data experience is a plus, including familiarity with chain data structures, finality, reorgs, RPC nodes, or wallets.
• Uses generative AI responsibly, with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate distributed systems for real-time blockchain data ingestion, indexing, and query, end-to-end from design to production.
• Own delivery of initiatives such as new chain integrations, migrations, and backfills to improve latency, reliability, and cost.
• Partner with product and platform teams to define data contracts and contribute to SDKs and primitives for adoption.
• Implement architecture and performance improvements across the indexing stack with sound systems design.
• Support engineering quality through code reviews, testing rigor, and AI-assisted acceleration.
