Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is hiring for a Blockchain Data Platform engineer who will build and operate distributed systems powering the Coinbase Developer Platform.

You’ll own end-to-end delivery from design to production, focusing on real-time ingestion, indexing, and queries across major blockchains. You’ll work on latency, reliability, and cost optimizations, collaborating with product and platform teams to define data contracts and improve SDKs and primitives for adoption by Coinbase and external

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience building and operating distributed or data systems in production.
• Strong systems design fundamentals including partitioning, consistency/availability tradeoffs, streaming, and storage/compute boundaries.
• Proficiency in a backend language such as Go and/or Python, with familiarity across Kafka, gRPC, Redis, S3, ClickHouse, or MongoDB.
• Ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear designs and shipped solutions with measurable impact.
• Blockchain or crypto data experience is a plus; experience using AI responsibly to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate distributed systems for real-time blockchain data ingestion, indexing, and query end-to-end.
• Own delivery of initiatives like new chain integrations, migrations, and backfills to improve latency, reliability, and cost.
• Partner with product and platform teams to define data contracts and contribute to SDKs and primitives for broad adoption.
• Execute architecture and performance improvements across the indexing stack with strong design fundamentals.
• Support engineering quality through code reviews, testing, and AI-assisted tooling to boost speed and reduce burden.
