Job summary

Reading Corps is seeking Reading Tutors in California to help students improve reading skills at local schools. You will be trained to deliver proven activities and coached throughout the program. Each school day includes multiple 20-minute reading practice sessions, aligning with school schedules.

Join AmeriCorps through Ampact, assisting students, tracking progress, and participating in ongoing training. The role supports growth for both students and tutors in a structured environment.

Qualifications

• Dependable with a history of good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and use feedback to improve.
• Proficient with basic computer skills (email and online navigation).
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
• 18+ years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping children thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
